Scout & Sons is owned and operated by the Planzer family — Neil, Andrea, Preston & Bobby — longtime Nantucket residents with a passion for the island's great people and community spirit. Neil and Andrea first began visiting Nantucket nearly 30 years ago, and they've been year-round residents since 2010.

Scout & Sons was launched as an opportunity for Andrea and their entrepreneurial son Preston to work together. Neil calls himself "the labor" of the team and often serves as driver. When not at work for Scout & Sons, Preston attends boarding school in Virginia where he plays lacrosse and soccer. Their son Bobby is well known around Nantucket for his shock of red hair, infectious smile and his delightful local TV show "Bobbin' Around Town."

Aviation is a shared Planzer family passion and the thing that first brought Andrea and Neil together. Neil is a retired Boeing executive and Air Force veteran who also worked at the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration, and Andrea was a longtime aviation attorney for the FAA. According to Neil, the pair met when, "she was prosecuting me for an air space violation, which is still a great story." Andrea serves on the Nantucket Airport Commission, and the family has owned a plane for more than 35 years. Andrea and Neil are both licensed pilots, and Preston recently began learning to fly.
